How do I prepare for surgeries and other medical procedures?

Preparation for surgeries and medical procedures typically includes:

  • Ensuring you have arranged for post-surgery care and transportation, as driving may not be allowed for at least a 24-hour period following anaesthesia administration.

 

Patients undergoing most fertility operations will typically be allowed to leave the hospital on the same afternoon or evening of their procedure. Other more complex surgical procedures may require patients to stay overnight at the hospital. Despite relatively low risk of complications, Dr. Amir also advises patients from outside of Queenstown and Wanaka to remain in town for at least one night after discharge just in case.

We provide a detailed fee structure on our website for various services, including consultations, diagnostics and surgical procedures. Our practice maintains a strong relationship with medical insurance companies, including Southern Cross Health Insurance and ACC, and accepts payments via cash, credit card and debit card/EFTPOS on the day of the consultation. For surgeries not covered by insurance, a partial or full payment is required beforehand. Payment plans and financing options are available through Nova Medical Finance for eligible patients.
